Female Officers in the Navy, Active Duty and Reserve Three Decades of Shipboard Duty We as researchers at Portland State University are interested in learning about your experiences on ships and/or in combatant related occupations/roles in the Navy as female officers who are either current members on active duty or in the reserve. We are asking you to help us gather information to learn about female Naval officers’ careers and the trends and patterns reflected in recruiting and retention as a result. This data, we hope, will be used to support women in the Navy as well as to make recommendations on the availability of particular career fields for women in the Navy. This research is also of importance, not only to female Naval officers, but to female officers in the military as a whole. Please be assured that this study has been sponsored and funded by Portland State University and in no way represents the views and/or opinions of the United States Navy. However, the online questionnaire for the study is being distributed with the approval of the United States Navy (RCS 1301a, Expiration August 31, 2008; #NPRST-2008-0001). In other words, while this study was authorized by the United States Navy, it is an independent endeavor and will not be conducted by the United States Navy. We, therefore, encourage you to participate in this study by asking you to complete a brief online questionnaire at the URL below: http://survey.oit.pdx.edu/ss/wsb.dll/101/FemaleNavyOfficersActive_Reserve_shipboard.htm
Portland State University thanks you in advance for participating in this very important study and the individual researchers appreciate your support!! Should you have questions about this online questionnaire and/or study, please do not hesitate to contact the Principal Investigator/Researcher at the information below either via telephone or e-mail.
